Two images on one sheet from the posthumous publication of Barbault's works 'Vues des Plus Beaux Restes des Antiquites Romaines' issued in 1775 by Piranesi's early publisher Jean Bouchard. Barbault was a French painter and engraver who studied under Jean Restout II at the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In 1747 he moved permanently to Rome where his work became influenced by Piranesi and published by Bouchard, who also published Piranesi's early editions.
