Highly decorative, with mountains very detailed and elaborate (topographical cross-section style throughout). Large (14x23cm) hand-coloured cartouche / vignette of a mountain scene with local hunters (courtiers) at top left. Smaller vignette of topographical cross-section (labelled) at base. Text panel ('Observationes') describing the religious and linguistic makeup of Switzerland, surrounded by a cartouche of trees, at top right. Mountain height table at lower left. Repaired tear (7cm.) to centrefold at top, a strip of the right verical section and a 40 cm section of the lower right horizontal section have been reinforced, otherwise the map is in good condition.
